Clan Forrester was well represented in North Carolina at the games this year. Andy Foster let our presence be known at the calling of the Clans on Thursday evening, while JD tried to recover from the hard day of fishing I forced upon him the day before.
Saturday and Sunday, the Forrester tent was active with clan members and numerous people stopping by to ask questions. To be honest, most were lured to the tent by the spinning demonstration taking place at the front of the tent. Various members kept the tent hopping during both days including, Will & Sonia Newman, Betty 1 (Forrester) and Betty 2 (Bruni), Lois & Mike Foerster, Andy Foster, Jeff Forrester, Tom Blalock & Mary Paige Forrester, JD, Becky, and myself and others. At least one new clan member joined during the weekend and many others stopped by the tent asking questions and enjoying the hospitality.
On Saturday night several of us headed into Blowing Rock for a fantastic dinner and as always the camaraderie of those present was even more memorable than the meal (and drinks). Clan Forrester people always make getting together special. If you’ve never headed to the high country of NC for these games, you’re really missing out on something special.
I'm looking forward to our get-together next year on the mountain. In the meantime, the Stone Mountain Games in GA will be October 20-22 and it's always a large gathering of Clan Forrester members and a wonderful ceilidh at the home of Will & Sonia Newman. Becky and I are planning to be there again this year to spend time with our clan friends and family. You should be there too!!
